Electric Saz
Born in Ankara in 1980, Ayyıldız is originally from Ordu-Ünye. Between 2002 and 2006, he took advanced instrument technique lessons from Erol Parlak. Following this period, he participated in numerous albums, television series, and films as a music director, arranger, or artist. In 2009, he released the first album, Pangea, of his band Etni-ka, for which he served as music director and arranger. In the same year, he was invited to participate in the Stereognosis project in the United States.
He recorded two albums with this project: the Stereognosis project’s Hybrid album was released in 2011, and the Stereognosis Departure album was released in 2019. In early 2014, he founded the group MESEL and released their first official music video for the song "Getme," which received great attention. Following this success, the group performed at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the Nour Festival in London and at the Krutushka Ethnic Music Festival in Russia.
After 2015, he performed numerous concerts and released albums both domestically and internationally in collaboration with artists such as Erol Parlak, Tolgahan Çoğulu, Aziz Şenol Filiz, and Salih Gündoğdu. In addition to group projects, he gave solo recitals at festivals such as the Ronda Guitar Festival, the Berlin Guitar and Mandolin Festival, and the İTÜ Bağlama Days. In 2013, at the Truva Folklore Foundation's Truva Award Ceremony, he was named the artist of the year in the "Contemporary Folk Music" category and received the Truva Award. His work in "Folk Music" was also recognized with an award at the 2018 "Sabah Yıldızı Culture and Arts Awards" presented by Sabah Newspaper.
He completed his doctoral education at Istanbul Technical University, Dr. Erol Üçer Center for Advanced Studies in Music (MIAM), with a doctoral thesis titled “Methods of Producing Melodic Patterns by Using Finger Striking Technique in Saz (Bağlama) Performance.” Continuing his musical endeavors in Ankara, Sinan Ayyıldız serves as an Associate Professor at Ankara Music and Fine Arts University.
